Description:
Arched panels are machined by placing the panel under the clamp system, pressing the on screen clamp bar, and the cycle start button. The width of the work piece is measured as the part enters the machine. The measured length of the part is used by the software to calculate arch geometry. The operator does not have to manually enter the part size into the computer. The work piece travels through the shapers and then the sander. When the part returns to the operator it passes through the sander a second time, and then rapids back to the operator. The sander has a CNC controlled Z-axis, so two different profiled sanding wheels can be stacked providing a two step grit sequence for optimum finish quality. A typical arched panel can be machined and sanded in less than 30 seconds.
The arched panel is located in the machine one of two ways. If the panel has already been cut to size vertically, the top of the panel can be placed up against an automatic stop on the cutter side of the machine. The automatic stop accounts for arch height and cleanup amount. If the panel needs to be sized while having the arched machined, there is a manually adjusted outboard sizing fence mounted to the machine as well.
When machining arched top rails, the operator simply loads the top rail under the clamp system, up against a hard stop, and touches the on screen clamp bar and cycle start buttons. The top of the arched rail is located against the hard stop providing automatic part sizing while it is being cut. A typical arched top rail can be machined in under 30 seconds.
Custom Arches:
Unique will show the operator during runoff and onsite training how to create arch tables which match the users arches. Unique typically spends 1 to 3 hours training on this during which time the operator can often complete most of the company standard arch profiles. In the event the company would like to have Unique help program all of the “company arches” a charge of $1,000 per arch range will be charged for Unique to develop, program and match CAD drawings and samples provided by the purchaser.
